This old Palace has been changed to several statuses. It begins with being a small palace where King Chulalongkorn the Great (Rama 5) resided and was built since B.E. 2452 (1909). After that, during the reign of King Mongkut Klao Chao Yu Hua, Rama VI, had given order to restructed the palace and built 4 new palaces before turning the place in the Phaya Thai Hotel, the most luxurious hotel of the Eastern World. Not long after that, Phaya Thai Palace was turn into radio transmission station and the medical unit for the army which is the origin of Phramongkutklao Hospital that is located nearby this palace. The most recent status of Phaya Thai Palace is great museum that collects every inch of history. It also has high tower and the tall arch on the rooftop of Phiman Maha Chak Kri Palace had become its landmark for people to remember. This includes the bronze monument that is the same size as the size of King Mongkut Klao Chao Yu Hua that is in the posture of standing straight placing in front of the royal car garage building. It is worth going to pay respect once in your life.
SiamHOP Sightseeing: Every Saturdays and Sundays will be having volunteers from the Palace Fan Club to be guide for people to walk around the palace along with giving detailed explanations. This will be divided into two rounds at 9.30 am and 13.30 pm.
